⚠️Problem statement
The Solarman Smart app faces several usability challenges that negatively impact the overall user experience. Key issues include cluttered navigation, cramped and hard-to-read data graphs, and inconsistent UI components.
As a result, users find it difficult to quickly access essential information, especially when trying to view daily and monthly power generation data.
🎯Solution
The redesign focuses on enhancing usability through improved information architecture, streamlined navigation, and refined visual hierarchy.
Key changes include reorganizing the interface for better accessibility, integrating status indicators for system performance, offering clearer data insights through stat cards, and providing consistent components.

Here’s the before and after comparison of the screens, showing the key improvements after multiple iterations.
Bringing It All Together
After going through several iterations and slowly piecing together the design system with colors, typography, icons, and components, the final screens came together nicely.
Final Reflections
Working on this redesign has been a fun experience. By addressing issues like confusing navigation and layout inconsistencies, I was able to streamline the structure and make the app more intuitive for users.
Although I had very few users test the app, the Maze test results offered valuable insights as some users appreciated the simplicity of the design, though usability tasks like switching between screens and adjusting data views highlighted opportunities for further refinement.
Overall, I’m excited to take these learnings forward into future projects and continue pushing for designs that are both functional and engaging!
